In the middle of the irish Sea is the Isle of Man, suffering the political push-pull of England, Ireland and Scotland.
As with much of the North West of England the weather is rarely great but as with The Channel Islands it is, inevitably, a tax haven, so an awful lot of people have no visible means of support but big smiles.
And of course it hosts the Isle of Man TT: the most dangerous motorbike race in the world.

Geologically and ethnically the island is made of the same stuff as The Lake District.
